Blog: Changes

I have some exciting changes for me to show you in the very near future of my blog. I have held back from blogging because I wanted to show you those changes, but I also appreciate you still checking in on me. It's been cold in Maine. We haven't had a break even for the snow to melt. We're anticipated to get 40 degree temps this weekend and I think everyone in the area is pretty pumped over that.

I can hardly believe it's already the first week of February and school breaks are in a week. The time is flying and I know that before I blink I will be starting to take Senior Portraits and Wedding Season will be in full tilt.

So, check back soon! I'm looking forward to seeing more of all of you this year!

This is a photo(s) I took of my oldest daughter over the New Year's when we were brave enough to step outside for a short session. I know they're almost the same image, but I like both the vertical and the horizontal and just could not choose between them.

Much Love,

Shannon

Blog catch up...

I am still alive! I know that I've had a few people call to confirm that since I have not blogged in so long (my mother included). It's nice to be missed!

The holidays were very nice and I've been busy meeting and speaking with the most amazing brides and grooms. I cannot wait to photograph their incredible weddings this year.

The snow is deep and the day is sunny. So, I'm going to go enjoy the last bit of it. I will definitely be catching up very soon and back to blog mode!

This is a shot I took after we received a lovely 14" of snow earlier this week. This is the time of year that I truly enjoy where we live. We've taken walks on the river and slid down our hill every evening that it was possible.

Much Love,

Shannon

Sisters

I am guilty of blog neglect. I can blame the holidays and I will, but I am still guilty. So, after this session with these beautiful sisters, I was inspired to get back on the horse and blog again. The session was for the oldest daughter's freshman photos (yes, high school, not college), but we thought it would be fun to have her younger sister in a few of the photos.
I love and miss my sisters daily, so I couldn't imagine not including a few sister portraits.

I hope everyone is enjoying their time with family and friends during the holidays!

Much Love,

Shannon

Wedding: Skowhegan, Maine

When we arrived at the bride's home she was still at the salon getting her hair fixed. I noticed this sign hanging in her room and thought it just fit the day. I can only imagine how many times she dreamed of this day as a little girl and since then.

The bouquets waiting for us as we arrived at the church...

One of the adorable flower girls...

Her sister in law helping her with the last touches...

As I've said before, I love having that quiet moment with the bride before she walks down the aisle. Lyndsey was so sweet and definitely happy about her day.

As this little one followed the ring bearer and flower girl, she glanced back and then right after this image, she turned around and ran back to her Mom. I love that I caught this look of uncertainty before she turned around.

Lyndsey being walked down the aisle by her father and step father.

The Lyndsey and David together...

The kiss...

The priest had a great sense of humor and obviously had a good relationship with the David and Lyndsey. It showed in how comfortable they were during the ceremony and how many times they laughed.

The priest teased the groom's father a few times. I just happened to catch this image as the bride's mother and father laughed at the priest's comments.

You are now Mr. and Mrs!

David and Lyndsey watched the procession of their family and friends leaving the church from the balcony.

Arriving at the beautiful Lake Wood Inn restaurant and Theater.

I don't know if I have ever photographed a wedding where the bride smiled and laughed so much...

I absolutely loved the fall colors that were still lingering. I love how Lyndsey chose lavender as the colors in her wedding to accent the gorgeous fall colors that nature provided.
This bride knew that her feet would get cold so she put on these great striped socks after the ceremony. I loved it! A sensible girl!

I love these next few images...their happiness that day was contagious!

More smiles and laughs...

David and Lyndsey out by the water...they are being troopers because it was actually quite cold!

After some large family portraits the children all walked away from the photograph in this formation. Nobody told them to, but I thought it was adorable.

Right before I took this photo of Lyndsey with her two brothers, they both kissed her. I don't think she knew it was coming, but I loved it!

some of the beautiful details...

An image right after the groom retrieved the garter from the bride - I love how the DJ cheered him on so enthusiastically.

Definitely a happy day! I was thankful to shoot the wedding in cooler weather. I second shot this wedding with the lovely Susan Mullen once again and she took this photo of me at the reception when we had a break.

I felt it was only fair since I've posted photos of her too!

I'm sure Lyndsey and David are back from their honeymoon since the wedding was in October (I'm a little slow), but I wish them lots of happy years together!

Much Love,

Shannon

Seasons Changing - Holiday ordering deadlines

I am always amazed at how quickly we start wearing jackets and turning on our heat a day here and there to needing the heated blankets, flannel sheets and winter coats every day. I don't mind the change of season because I know it only means the holidays are coming with lots of time with family and friends. I do mind because I can't do as many portrait sessions outside.

So, with Christmas just weeks away, I wanted to let everyone know that the cut off for ordering prints and receiving them before Christmas is December 15th. If you have had a session with me this year (or last) and want to order more prints to give as holiday gifts, please contact me as soon as possible. This tends to be a busy time for ordering!

I do have custom holiday Christmas cards too!

I myself have not starting my holiday shopping so this is as much a note to myself to get moving!

I took these photos a few days ago and know just next week how different it is going to look outside. I'm still trying to capture the eagles by my house. I haven't seen them with my camera in hand yet.

Much Love,

Shannon

Children's Portraits: 4 months old

What a fun age four months old is! I had such nice, relaxed session with this sweet little boy and his Mom. I took this little guy's newborn portraits in July and boy has he changed! He still has those striking blue eyes! You can already see that he has a great personality.

This first image is one of my favorites. You'll notice it is now on my main homepage when you go to my portrait site. What a cutie in this hat!

This second image is one of the first set we took. Can't you just see how cute he was trying to talk to us?

The basket was a great prop since he's not sitting up perfectly yet, but I like how he looks a like he's telling us another story all relaxed in his special chair (basket).

These eyes just lure me right in - what a doll he is!

What a great smile...

Then last, but not least, the 'What you talkin about Willis?' look...

As I look back, it's almost a shame I posted more black and white for you to see since his eyes are such a beautiful shade of blue! Thanks again for letting me capture a moment in this little guy's life.

Much Love,

Shannon
